Christian Perspective: Hong Kong Crisis

Hi, this article is written from a Christian perspective. As a religious person, we believed in God’s as our saviour and during our time on Earth we strive to act Jesus character in our life — to be mindful and selfless.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong. (1 Peter 2:13–15)

As a teenager as ordinary as it can get, waking up to school on weekdays and going to church on Sundays seemed as normal as it gets. However, nowadays people still do go to school and church, but guess what the teachers and pastors told them? We treasure you guys just like our sons and daughters, we know the government and the police forces are doing really wrong things but please do not go protest against them. We value your safety and future.

Biblically speaking, is Jesus implying that we shall obey this corruptive government and let our offsprings suffer from this? If Jesus is right, then did it mean all these glorious revolution history are violating Jesus purposes? If Jesus is right, then did you mean to have the water cannon shooting on the Islam building and having police to break into Catholic churches.

Therefore I will bring on them a disaster they cannot escape. Although they cry out to me, I will not listen to them Jeremiah 11:11

We sinned, we cried out to him, and was yelled back “Ask your damn Jesus to come vanish us”. We suffered from dioxine, we suffered from friends losses, we are mentally leveraged, we are hopeless. As being taught since grade 1 that Jesus is our saviour and he can do all things, now nothing was recognized, everything is going downhill and even Christians leaders have turned their heads towards the government.

Did we sin because we crave for democracy? Or did we sin because we didn’t follow whatever the authorities want us to do? We see god’s glory as our proudest achievement because we believe in him and through him we can saved. Yet we began seeing evidences that God might really be against all these protestants by not signifying anything nor giving any guidance.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.“ Corinthians 12:9–10

Participating in federal elections is christian’s responsibility to fulfill god’s purpose, instead advocating for democracy is not ideal and not recommended. Human are made according to your image, your design has furnished us morals and capabilities to build relational rapports. We win your heart by giving all of ourselves to glorify and admit your power, by giving the most vulnerable self to god yourself, by thanking everything that you have provided to us.

Now, Hong Kongers are encountering humanitarian crisis, first aids/anti-communist politicians are arrested for no reasons, millions worth of toxicated tear gases have been shoot to the general public over months, youngsters are breaking up with their family due to different political stances. We question where god is, is god watching this in our very most vulnerable state, yet we would still have to see if there will be any changes amongst us.

Regardless the causes and my stances on the revolution, as Christians, Jesus made us even look more devil and desperate than we are already.
